Challenge No 15 - Delicate Nails

How amazing is this pattern!!!
I bought this nail foil WEEKS and WEEKS ago! But knowing I was doing this challenge I have waited to use it as it is exactly what I think of then I think of Delicate Nails. As normal I started with the Gelish Base then I did two layers of Orly Gel FX in Shine as some parts of the foil are not completely opaque and having the shimmering silver show through was nice. I found this foil really really hard to apply. Getting it perfect and no wrinkles was just impossible. Looking at my nails normally you cant see any imperfections but as you look closer there are small wrinkles and its not like a normal foil where you can just go over it as the pattern wont match and it shows through. Well worth the extra care though. They look even better in person!

Before applying the foil.
Looking closer you can notice the imperfections more.

Challenge No 14 - Flowers

Today's nails are my Mums :) She needed some cheering up so I did her nails and toes in the Gelish Creme Orange. Its such a nice color and the photos just don't show it well. I then did a nail foil over the top that's a motif of daisies. Very easy and very cute. Made her smile every time she looked at them.

A Close up to see the flowers. Cute :)

Challenge No 13 - Animal Print

Todays challenge was Animal Print. I have a bit of a thing for red and leaopard print so thats what I chose!                                                                   The yellow is Shellac Ruby Ritz from the Limited Edition Sparkle and Shine Christmas Set. Under the leopard foil is Shellac Black Pool so that any missed or chipped spots are more concealed.                                                                                 I love love love this look and it will be one that I will re-do again and again. Luckily I have a good selection of nail foils to practice with!

Challenge 12 - Stripes

Today's challenge is Stripes. Ok so I love stripes but I haven't had much luck with them. Just really really funny with things being straight and crisp and I hadn't been able to do that with Shellac at ALL! I figured out the trick tho. If it needs two coats, as most shellac colors do, then you need to keep striping tape on after you cure it the first time. Then paint the second coat but before curing again take off the tape. Seems to get rid of the big edges but still keeps nice lines.

This is one coat of Shellac Silver (just to even out ridges), then glue and nail foil, then top coat, then apply striping tape, one coat of Overtly Onyx, cure, second coat, remove tape, cure, top coat done :)

Nail Foils Part One

I have decided that since I have so many different colors I had to take a photo :) I will eventually get around to taking some more detailed ones over the Christmas break. And swatching. LOTS of swatching.
I am planning on swatching all of my pigments too so wish me luck!!!!

I got most of my foils from the Shardee Nail Shimmers eBay store. If you want to know a specific color just leave me a comment and I will check the list for you :)

Challenge 11 - Polka Dots

I was really not looking forward to this challenge. I absolutely love polka dots but am usually terrible at them! First with this I painted the nails with Gelish Red Roses then top coated to make sure the red didn't leech into the white. Then I "tried" to stamp them with one the random stamping plates I have. Well that didn't work! Smudged all the hell and just would not stick properly. Think it may have been the Gelish Top Coat but could have been me being a spaz. SO then I had to do the dots all by hand with a dotting tool. I honestly cannot work out why I have had so many issues with polka dots in the past. It was easy as!!!! The dots are in the White Konad Special Polish as it has the best pigments and dries nicely. Another top coat and a wee diamante just cause I can and done!

Special for Mrs N

These nails are the AMAZING Mrs N. She decided to FINALLY give my nail foils a go. We used Shellac Tutti Fruitti as the base, applied my Fuschia Glitter foil and then the Black Lace foil on top of that.  Finish with Gelish Top Coat and DONE. Very cute :)

I have bought almost all of my foils from Shardee Nail Shimmers store on eBay. Quick postage and an amazing range of foils too.

Challenge 10 - Gradient Nails

Today's challenge is Gradient Nails. As I have done quite a few gradients lately I decided to do this in foils. This absolutely amazing foil is called Seascape and its from the Shardee Nail Shimmer store on Ebay.
To start I painted the usual Gelish base coat then did Orly Gel FX in Liquid Vinyl because there is no way I would have been able to match the colors of this foil so the black is more to even out the nail and keep it strong than for a base color. Foils as normal and then the wee Chevron sticker (bought on Etsy) and Gelish Top Coat. I fully keep getting distracted by my own fingers as they catch the light. Very pretty :)

The Chevron/Zig Zag sticker.
